PRODUCT QUESTIONS

What is the production time for your jewelry?

Each item is handmade to order and will have an estimated production time in the details of the individual listing. Items found in my ‘Ready to Ship’ section will generally ship within 3 days of purchase, and the remaining items in my shop generally ship within 2-3 weeks of purchase. These are estimates and production time may vary depending on holidays, sales, etcetera. If you need an item by a specific date, please reach out to me directly and I will do my best to accommodate you.

Can I choose the gemstone that will be set into my jewelry?

Yes! Because each piece of jewelry is made to order you, you will not receive the gemstone featured in the photos of each item. For gemstones with lots of variation like Oregon sunstone, tourmalinated quartz, moss agate, golden rutilated quartz, fire quartz, moonstone and labradorite, I'm happy to send a photo of the available gemstones in my collection for you to choose from. Please send me an email or leave a note at checkout that you'd like to choose your gem!

I want to place an order for a ring but I’m not sure what ring size I am/my partner is.

If you don’t know your ring size I highly recommend either visiting a local jewelry shop to have your finger professionally sized, or ordering an inexpensive ring sizer and following the instructions to determine your ring size. My rings are offered in US sizing, so if you need help converting your ring size from an international size please reach out. Because each of my rings are made to order and non-returnable, it’s important to order the correct size. I offer ring resizing for a fee, but not all of my rings are able to be resized, so please reach out before placing an order if this is a concern.

Is your metal recycled? Are your gems ethically sourced?

My designs are created using recycled metal, and I source ethically mined gemstones at every opportunity. Colored gemstones are difficult to trace, but as consumers become more informed and have made the call for more transparency, this is slowly changing. I am proud to offer American mined gemstones that are fairly and ethically mined including Oregon sunstones, Arizona peridot and Montana sapphires. My salt and pepper diamonds, lab grown diamonds and moissanite are also ethically sourced.

What other sustainable practices are you utilizing?

Thanks for caring! Long term sustainability is important to me as a business owner and as a citizen of the Earth.

Each piece of jewelry is made locally in Los Angeles by individuals earning a living wage, and because my designs are made to order, I am helping to eliminate waste created by overproduction in the fashion industry. Similarly, by using fine materials and classic designs, my jewelry is made to last a lifetime, not just a season.

The packaging used for all of my shipments is made of at least 95% recycled materials and is recyclable or compostable.

Do you offer single earrings?

Yes! If this is not already an option on the earring listing you’d like to purchase, please contact me for details.

I need help deciding what size of stud earring to purchase.

I’ve created a visual reference for stud earring sizes here.

What’s the difference between push back and screw back/threaded back stud earrings?

Push back earrings are the classic choice and the ones most people are familiar with. The post of the stud is smooth and the backing is pushed straight onto the post and secured by friction. Screw back earrings, also known as threaded back, have a post with a screw-like thread, and a backing that screws onto the post like a nut and bolt. Screw back earrings are more secure, but also take more time to take in and out of the ear.

Do you offer flat back earrings?

Whenever possible I am happy to offer 14k gold flat back stud earrings for an additional fee. Please contact me for more info.

Can you make so-and-so necklace in another length?

Probably! Reach out for more details and pricing.

What are the differences between natural diamonds, lab grown diamonds and moissanite?

All of these gems are colorless, clear and sparkly. They are also roughly equal on the Mohs scale of hardness, with natural and lab grown diamonds as a 10 and moissanite as a 9.25. They are also similar in the refractive index, which indicates how much sparkle your gemstone has. Moissanite is the highest on this scale of the three.

Moissanite is a silicon carbide which is created in a lab and is the least expensive of these options.

Lab grown diamonds and natural diamonds are made of carbon atoms and are structurally and chemically identical. Lab grown diamonds are created in a controlled laboratory setting, and are engineered to be as flawless as possible. They are significantly less expensive than natural diamonds.

Natural diamonds are naturally occurring and mined from the earth, and this introduces variety that is not found in moissanite or lab grown diamonds. Other minerals and impurities in the earth’s surface can interfere with the growth of a diamond, which can result in diamonds like salt and pepper diamonds and colored diamonds. The uncontrollable variables of nature create many different grades of diamonds as well, and they are graded using the 4 C’s - color, clarity, cut and carat weight, which significantly impact the price of each diamond.

You can learn more about the sustainability of the three here.

What does gold filled mean?

Gold filled jewelry is created by bonding a thick layer of gold to a strong base metal. Gold fill is much more durable than gold plating and will not wear away over time, and it’s an inexpensive alternative to solid gold jewelry.

Do you offer engraving?

Many of my pieces are too delicate to be engraved, but many of my wider ring bands can be engraved. If you’d like more information on the styles and prices for engraving, please reach out!

How should I take care of my jewelry?

Please see my extensive jewelry care guide here.

Do you offer wholesale?

Yes - please contact me for more information.

SHIPPING

Can I add a personalized gift message to my order?

Yes, if you would like to add a handwritten note to your order please email me or leave a note at checkout.

When will my order ship?

Each item is handmade to order and will have an estimated production time in the details of the individual listing. Items found in my ‘Ready to Ship’ section will generally ship within 3 days of purchase, and the remaining items in my shop generally ship within 2-3 weeks of purchase. These are estimates and production time may vary depending on holidays, sales, etcetera. If you need an item by a specific date, please reach out to me directly and I will do my best to accommodate you.

How will my order be packaged?

For domestic orders, the shipping carton is a small, plain brown box without any information on the outside of the box other than my name and return address. This is to prevent theft and allow for surprise gifting. International orders are required to declare the value and description of the contents of the package for customs and this information will be visible on the outer packaging.

Inside the box your order will be carefully wrapped by tissue paper, and your jewelry will be inside of a white jewelry box with The Bea Line branding in rose gold foil. Each order also includes a branded notepad and writing pen. If you do not want these gifts with purchase please make a note at checkout of this preference. You can also add a handwritten gift note by leaving a note at checkout.

Do I have to pay customs duties or taxes on my international order?

Yes, most countries outside of the US require fees to import jewelry and the customer is responsible for paying those duties and taxes. I am unable to calculate that rate and am legally obligated to claim the full purchase price on any documentation provided to customs agents. Please research your country’s import policies for more information.

RETURN, EXCHANGE AND REPAIR POLICIES

What is your exchange and return policy?

Because each piece of jewelry sold in my shop is made directly to order, I do not offer cancellations, returns or exchanges. If you have any questions or hesitations about placing an order, please feel free to reach out to me for assistance at info@thebealine.com. Please double check your order closely, and if you need to make any changes to your order please reach out within 24 hours of placing your order. If you receive your order and have any issues, please reach out immediately for assistance.

What is your repair policy? Do you offer repairs?

If you need an item repaired please reach out to me directly at info@thebealine.com with photos and any additional information you can provide. I offer no cost repairs for items with manufacturing errors within 3 months of receipt. Repairs involving accidents and negligence do not apply to this policy, and items that are damaged or altered by a third party are also not covered under this policy. Beyond that time frame I offer reasonably priced repairs on my jewelry.

Can I have another jeweler repair my jewelry or resize my ring?

Any jewelry with damages or alterations by a third party will not be covered under my repair policy, and I am not responsible for any issues caused by another jeweler.

Can you repair jewelry I bought somewhere else?

At this time I do not offer repairs on jewelry that I did not make.

Do you offer professional cleanings or polishing on your jewelry?

Yes! I offer both for a small fee to cover shipping. If you need a cleaning or polish please send me photos of your jewel for consultation. If you only need a light cleaning and want to do it yourself, I have info on jewelry care here.

CUSTOM JEWELRY

I love one of your existing designs but want to make a small change - is that possible?

Generally I can make small changes to my designs like using a different gemstone, changing the size of the gemstones, widening a band, using an alternate metal (18k gold, platinum), adding engraving, adding additional gemstones, making a necklace in a specific length, making a ring in a larger or smaller size than regularly offered, etcetera. There is sometimes a fee for these changes that is determined on a case by case basis depending upon the changes you need.

Can you reuse gold from an heirloom piece or other piece of jewelry I already own?

Unfortunately I am unable to directly recycle metal provided by my customers at this time. However, I may be able to scrap recycle your gold and give you a credit towards your finished custom piece. Please contact me for additional details and note that this service is only available for custom orders.

Can you use an heirloom gemstone in my custom design?

I do not work with heirloom gemstones with a significant monetary or sentimental value. Gemstones are occasionally damaged during stone setting, so I will not work with any gemstones that can’t be easily replaced in the event of damage. Please contact me for additional details if you’d like to use a gemstone of your own.

Do you only make custom engagement and wedding jewelry?

While that is the majority of custom pieces I’ve created, I love making custom jewelry for all occasions! I’ve designed memorial pieces, anniversary and birthday gifts, many ‘gifts to self’ and more.

Can I see your past custom designs?

Yes, I have a gallery of my past work here and additional videos and information here.

How does your custom design process work?

To begin my custom design process I require a $200 non-refundable deposit. This covers all design consultations, project planning, materials sourcing and 3 sketches of potential designs based on your requirements, suggestions, and inspiration. If you choose to move forward with one of the designs I propose the fee goes towards the final cost of the ring.

For fully custom work I only use 14k or 18k yellow, rose or white gold and platinum and my minimum for customs is $1,000.

Once I have completed the initial designs, I provide pricing for each and begin fabrication after 50% of the total project cost has been taken. From there I will create a 3d model or hand carved wax model for approval before moving on to creating your design in metal.

Upon completion you will be provided with photos of the finished piece and the remaining balance is due.

If you’re interested in additional information about my custom design practices and policies, please send me an email at info@thebealine.com.

How long does it take to make a custom order?

Custom order timelines vary depending upon the complexity of the project and my schedule, but I generally design and craft a custom order within 4-8 weeks. If you have a deadline please send me a message and I can let you know if I am able to accommodate your timeline.
